About me

Spanning Idaho farm boy to missionary and Virginia lawyer, enriched with the gospel of Jesus Christ, treasuring a charming wife and twelve lively children, life has led me on a merry chase. Merry, trying, and abundantly worthwhile. I and now delight in 38 grandchildren, serving the Lord in the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, my own law practice, and singing with Swanee Singers. History studies, poetry writing [sample below] and finding Waldensian ancestors in old 1600s records of Savoy (now Italy), fill up my days when not keeping up with the kids and grandkids, their river trips, Grand Canyon escapades, Marathon runs, TabChoir singing, soccer, baseball, baskeball, soccer [no sic],and travels escapades.

Our newest, pending foreign delgation is a daughter to Nairobi with her 8 children and Lt Colonel husband. Our family emissaries - years each in Peru, El Salvador, Ukraine, Fukuoka Japan, Guatemala, and Paraguay assure me that Christ is the Lord in all those faraway places too -- and (sadly) even more beloved than in much of my dear homeland - the U. S. of A.

My favorite poem of the day:

AWAY!

I have heard wind whistling through the birches,
white bark contrast to brilliant strokes
of gold and red and brown that deepen with passing nights.

I have seen long trailing Vee’s of geese
beat their way south to winter's home,
and fields gathering blackbirds for their caravan away.

Something within me strikes sweet chord with them,
and cries "Away!"

I do not know whence comes the call
but it seems stronger every Fall –
"Away! Away!"
